The beds out front were tired. Old weed fabric breaking down, irrigation that wasn't doing its job, and plants that weren't giving the homeowner much to work with. That's a pretty common situation - and it's exactly the kind of thing we rebuild from the ground up.
We pulled out the failing weed fabric first, then went through and fixed the irrigation so everything would actually get water where it needed to go. From there, we rebuilt the beds with a plant selection that makes sense for the long haul - iris, foxtails, and agapanthus. These are tough, low-fuss plants that hold their look without constant babysitting.
To finish it off, we laid oversized river rock across the entire bed. It keeps weeds down, stays put, and gives the front of the house a clean and polished look that holds up over time. No mulch to replace every year. No fabric to dig out again in two seasons.
The difference between before and after is hard to miss. What was once a scraggly, bare strip along the front of the house is now a structured, well-planted bed that actually adds to the property. Everything is tied together - the plant heights work with each other, the rock grounds the whole look, and the irrigation is running properly underneath it all.
This is the kind of landscaping work that pays for itself. Better curb appeal, less time maintaining it, and a front yard that looks intentional instead of neglected. If your front beds are due for a reset, this is what that reset looks like.
