This one was a full collaboration - and honestly one of the more satisfying jobs we've been a part of. We teamed up with John at Urbanscapes Nola on a complete backyard overhaul. The lot started as a blank slate. Bare dirt, no structure, nothing. John handled all the hardscaping and built-out structures while we took care of the softscape, grading, soil prep, sod, and planting beds.

Before any grass or plants went in, the entire yard had to be properly graded with fresh soil. That step matters more than most people realize. If the ground isn't level and the soil isn't right, sod won't take hold the way it should. We brought in 4 pallets of sod and laid it out once everything was prepped - and the difference it made to the overall look of the yard is hard to overstate. A clean, lush lawn completely anchors a space like this.

We also carved out multiple new planting beds and filled them with native Louisiana plants. Native plants are a smart call down here. They're built for the heat, the humidity, and the soil conditions that come with living in South Louisiana. We planted jasmine along the fence trellis - in a couple months it'll climb up and fill that whole section in with green. That's the thing about thoughtful planting - it keeps getting better over time.

The finished yard has a lot going on - in the best way. There's a flagstone stepping-stone path winding through the mulched beds, a gravel fire pit seating area, a brick paver patio perfect for grilling, a pergola structure on one end, and a clean sod lawn running the length of the yard. Gravel borders and wood edging tie all the zones together and give the space a sharp, intentional look. Every element has a purpose.

Big thanks to John at Urbanscapes Nola for bringing us in on this one. This is exactly the kind of job we love - whether it's a small cleanup or a ground-up redesign like this, we're here for all of it.
